Studio Policies

Tuition / Attendance

Tuition is due the first class of each month. A late fee of $10 will be due if tuition is not paid by the second class of each month. Beginning, Intermediate and advanced class tuition is due whether or not your student attends all classes. It is very important for your student to attend class so they can keep up with their classmates on learning new steps and techniques and learn dances for our performances.  Students who miss two classes in a row (except for occasional illness) should transfer to the recreational classes for the remainder of the session.  Recreational classes’ tuition is due for the semester at the first class in September. Recreational students who wish to may transfer to beginning, intermediate or advanced classes, as appropriate, before October in the fall or at the start of the spring session. All tuition and other fees must be paid prior to participation in performances.

Illness

Do not attend class when anyone in your household is sick. Ask for the appropriate make-up class.

Holidays / Snow Days

We will not have class when Dallas County schools are canceled due to weather. Please check our calendar to know if we have class when the schools have scheduled days off.

Performances

Our annual “Light the Street” Christmas performance will be the evening of the Buffalo Christmas Parade. Students will have the opportunity to sign up for this performance where costumes will be provided for use at no charge. Your student will need the appropriate color leotard, tights and shoes. The year-end recital will be held in early May. Students will be required to purchase a costume for the recital and must have the appropriate color tights and shoes. Costume fees will be announced in November and the deposit will be due before Thanksgiving. Full payment will be due prior to Christmas break. We will try to keep costumes around $50 for Recreational groups, $60 per group for Starlet and Silver groups and $70 for Gold groups. Other performances throughout the year are voluntary and your student will be given the opportunity to sign-up for them as they occur. We are frequently asked to dance at fairs, festivals, school programs and nursing homes in the area. We also enter area parades with a float and/or dance troupe.

Parents

Parents must come inside to pick up children in the 3rd grade and younger. Please let us know if someone other than a parent will be picking up your student.  All other students should wait inside until they see their ride. We cannot be responsible for children left in the waiting room before, during or after classes. Viewing days will be scheduled in advance, once per session.  We leave the blinds open at the very top so that you can check on your students during class without distracting them.

Miscellaneous

Please observe reasonable behavior in the lobby/waiting room. While drinks and food are allowed in the lobby, please be careful. If you spill something try to clean it up and, most importantly, let the instructor know between classes so the carpet can be cleaned. The studio restroom is reserved for student use during class times. The lobby restroom is for everyone else.

Attire

Shoes and dancewear may be purchased from us.  If we don’t have the desired size or style, it can be ordered.  Orders will be placed the first week of the month and will usually be in within a week.  If you purchase shoes and dancewear elsewhere, make sure it matches in color and style so that all students will have a uniform look.    Starlet, Silver, Gold and Recreational dancers will need a short-sleeved black leotard and pink tights for performances. These may also be worn in class.

*No denim.

*Dance skirts have an elastic waist or wrap around tied waist, are no longer than half-way to the knee and do not restrict movement. Skirts not meeting this description will need to be removed.

*Form fitting shorts and leggings should not have zippers, buttons or other fasteners.

*Legwarmers may be worn when it’s cold.

*Form fitting sweaters may be worn at the beginning of class but removed when warm-ups are over.

*All students should wear their hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun away from their face.

*No loose or dangling jewelry.  Small earrings and rings are okay, but no necklaces, bracelets or large hair ornaments.

Do not wear any dance shoes outside—moisture, asphalt, concrete and dirt can ruin them.
